The Shrewsbury Board of Education encourages community members to participate in the district’s superintendent search by taking a brief survey. The survey will be available here through Feb. 13.

Survey questions cover topics such as district direction, leadership structure, leadership style, and candidate experience. The survey refers to the leadership position as the chief school administrator, or CSA. Answers will be used to understand the community’s priorities for the district’s future.

In addition to taking the survey, community members are welcome to share their feedback at two community input sessions about the district’s future. The board has partnered with a professional search firm that will help run the sessions.

In-Person Community Input Session: Monday, Feb. 2, 6:30–7:30 p.m., Media Center of Shrewsbury Borough School, 20 Obre Place

Virtual Community Input Session: Thursday, Feb. 5, 6:30–7:30 p.m., join via Google Meet

The board and search firm are also holding focus groups to hear from members of the school community, including teachers and other staff, school organization leaders, and seventh- and eighth-grade students.

Once board members gather and review all community feedback, they will meet with the search firm to help determine the criteria for the district’s next leader. The search firm will then place ads to launch the recruitment and interview process.

The board hopes to select a superintendent before spring break to replace Superintendent Brent MacConnell, who is retiring at the end of the school year. He has spent 25 years, including 18 years as superintendent, working in the pre-K-8 district.
