Rahway police are investigating a series of overnight break-ins that hit at least four businesses between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Among the businesses confirmed as targets were the E Z Check convenience store at the corner of St. Georges Avenue and Albemarle Street and Mr. Subs on Route 1&9 South. At E Z Check, the suspects smashed through the front door to gain entry. It remained boarded up on Wednesday morning with a paper “open” sign affixed to it.

Video circulating on social media showed the front door of Mr. Subs also smashed in. “All that for a jar of mayo and half bucket of pickles,” the business commented on the post.
