Central Jersey Warming Centers Open as Dangerous Cold Persists
Code Blue alerts remain active in Hunterdon, Middlesex, Monmouth, Somerset, and Union counties.

With dangerous cold gripping Central Jersey, municipalities have activated Code Blue measures and opened warming centers for residents in need. While the most extreme conditions are beginning to shift, the National Weather Service warns that the risk to public health and infrastructure remains high through the early part of the week.
According to the latest Timeline of Impacts, sub-freezing temperatures will persist through Monday morning, with wind chills as low as -20°F in some areas. While a brief warming trend is forecast for Tuesday afternoon, residents should prepare for a weak frontal passage on Tuesday morning that may bring spotty snow showers and a return of dangerously low wind chills.
